Adele & Darius Rucker (as in formerly known as Hootie) covered Lady Antebellum at the CMT Artist of the Year showcase/event/whatever back in, like, November.
This is obviously just the audio, but the video is absolutely precious. I love watching both of them perform, and as odd as it is to have them together, I also enjoyed that. Moreso, everyone in Lady A is so legitimately glowing with delight that it makes my heart straight up melt. Like Hilary’s face? You can’t fake how straight up stoked she is, & I freaking love it. They’ve had so much deserved success in the past two years, and I really love seeing how happy it makes them.
Anyway, if you can’t wait for Adele’s mastered cover of Need You Now (that I heard somewhere was coming on the Target special edition of 21 or something, but I haven’t seen it around anywhere) or if you just really like Darius Rucker like I do, here ya go.
re this post which is re this post.
Things About Kathy:
- She is a professional troll when the mood strikes
- Puns and wordplay are in her top five favorite things
- She likes to relax with a beer while taking a bath (probably listening to Jenny Lewis or Dessa)
- She really loves Strongbow
- The London Post once broke into a piece of her mail to inspect a friendship bracelet and then replace it
- She reads the Harry Potter series a few times a year on average
- She actively celebrates Rex Manning Day (as well as Tinker Day)
- The Nancy Drew book she is missing is #56 The Thirteenth Pearl and she only collects the original yellow hardbacks copyrighted in the ‘70’s
- She gets anxious when trying to take public transportation (especially if it’s something she doesn’t normally take or somewhere she doesn’t normally go) and would very much appreciate it if you picked her up
- She met Jeff Goldblum and was very sweaty as a result (of the process, not of the Goldblum, but given enough time and it would also be the latter)
And here are ten bonus facts in case you think any of the others do no count:
- She is a Virgo and knows many things about astrology/reads her horoscope daily. If you look up things about being a Virgo, she is very much one
- The cat she posts constantly is named after a Harry Potter character
- She has two siblings (but is by far the best of them)
- Sometimes she listens to Justin Bieber’s “Baby” on youtube so it doesn’t show up on her last.fm
- She is very good at making embroidery floss friendship bracelets
- Also, she is very good at making personalized journals
- Even though she’s hit a bit of a dry streak recently, she is a really wonderful writer (& I hope she finds inspiration again for it soon)
- She has a small cosmetic mirror with her name on it
- She has several adventurously acquired bruises approximately 85% of the time
- She may deny it, but she really likes Wizards of Waverly Place
I was having so much trouble trying to pick which song to upload. I’ve got over seven hours of Murder by Death, & I really love all of it. I went with this ‘cause it’s been one of my favorites for years & years, and also because I feel like it’s a solid indication of their sound (where as anything earlier is much softer than they usually are -especially sans-Vincent- & even stuff from ROTAC sounds a bit more bear-like & gruff than everything tends to be).
Anyway, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen them over the years, but it’s roughly eighteen or so times since 2003ish. Tonight I’ve the fortune of seeing them in one of my favorite venues where I’ve surprisingly never seen them before. I’m heading out alone which is always a bit of a drag, but I think Joey may be going (correct me if I’m wrong Alx) & I may run into a variety of other people over there. I’m going out with Michael afterwords as well, so it’s bound to be a good night.
Besides all of that, y’all need to listen to them lots & lots if you haven’t. Older stuff is softer & has more of a post-rock sort of inclination to it & as the discography progresses, they get a bit more of a southern rock style & Adam’s voice turns gradually into a bear (check “Comin’ Home” on ROTAC) & sort of starts to turn back again. They’re super fantastic & intelligent & hysterical (as both people & a band) & put on one of the most consistently impressive live shows of anyone out there these days. Ten years strong & they keep getting better.
If you’re in/near Chicago, come out to Subt tonight. The show’s cheap & the space typically sounds great!
GOL NO, YOU KNOW.
